Edinburgh#3 Junior Triathlon Camp 2026
Discover triathlon, build multisport skills and finish the camp by completing your own mini triathlon at the Edinburgh#3 Junior Triathlon Camp 2026.
This four-day junior camp takes place across two weekends — 10–11 October and 24–25 October 2026 — at ESM Sports Centre in Edinburgh. It is designed for young athletes aged 8–16, from children trying multisport for the first time to juniors who have already taken part in triathlons and want structured holiday training with other young athletes.
The camp is delivered by experienced professional triathlon coaches, all of whom are PVG registered. Edinburgh#3 is an established Edinburgh triathlon club created to provide coached triathlon training for both adults and children and describes its regular training environment as suitable for a wide range of abilities.
The program is built around the three disciplines of triathlon:
🏊 Swimming
🚴 Cycling
🏃 Running
Each day combines coaching with games and activities, keeping the emphasis on learning skills while also having fun.
The first three camp days feature a mixture of swimming, cycling and running sessions. Young athletes get the opportunity to practise individual skills before learning how the different disciplines work together as part of a multisport event.
The fourth and final day becomes “Event Day.”
Campers have the opportunity to put the skills developed during the previous sessions into practice by completing a mini triathlon consisting of:
🏊 Pool swim
🚴 Static bike section on poolside
🏃 Outdoor run
This gives younger athletes a friendly introduction to linking the three disciplines together and experiencing what completing a multisport event feels like.
At the end of the camp, participants also receive a goody bag.
One of the strengths of this camp is that previous triathlon competition experience is not required.
The organizer specifically welcomes both:
✅ Children interested in trying multisport for the first time
✅ Juniors who have already completed triathlons and want additional coached training
There is, however, a basic swimming requirement. Every participant must already be able to swim front crawl continuously with their head in the water for at least two lengths.
Each junior must bring a bicycle that they can confidently ride.
The bicycle needs to be in good working order, and every participant must have a properly fitted cycling helmet. A helmet is mandatory.
Participants should bring their complete swim, bike and run equipment each day. Because some activities take place outdoors in Scotland during October, waterproof clothing is essential.
The camp takes place at ESM Sports Centre, part of Erskine Stewart Melville Senior School on Queensferry Road in Edinburgh.
The venue includes a 25-metre swimming pool, sports halls, outdoor pitches and fitness facilities, making it well suited to a multisport camp combining swimming and land-based activities.
